Angus and Rebecca 10.29.2011

I always love photographing weddings at locations I would pass by and think “Man would that be a gorgeous wedding location.” That was the case with Angus and Rebecca’s wedding at Promontory Point . The ceremony was at the St. James Chapel with the celebration to continue at Promontory Point. Rebecca put a lot of work into details on their wedding day including staying in the traditions of a Scottish wedding. They also had fabulous help by Brittanie Ahrens at Lola Event Productions.

Greg and Erin 10.22.2011

Greg and Erin’s wedding was full of gorgeous details that required a lot of hard work to pull together. I loved showing up at the beginning of the day and seeing what looked like a breakfast party of friends and family who were helping set up the reception space. When I went to where the girls were getting ready I heard nothing but laughter and excitement. The whole day was full of excitement that was fun to witness.

They were married at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Barrington with the reception at Barrington Hills Country Club.

Randy and Veronica 10.21.2011

Randy and Veronica had an absolutely gorgeous wedding in Hanna City, Illinois. They were married at Wildlife Prairie Park on a gorgeous fall day. This was such a cool location where you can see buffalo and bears on the grounds in the distance. It was both a unique and beautiful day.

Happy Proposal Day!!!

Throughout the years of photographing various subjects I have always gravitated to finding any love or intimate connection that presents itself to me. From prep sports and spot news at the newspaper to portraits and weddings with Willow Lane Photography my favorite part to photograph is the emotion and love shown in different situations. I guess I have always been a sucker for a love story. I dreamt of finding my true love and planning a wedding that was as beautiful as the ones I have had the honor to photograph in the past.

Five years ago I found Justin, my true love, while working together at the newspaper. I realized that I just could not live without him. This past September we took our first vacation together to Pensacola Beach, Florida. The first night we were there we decided to go for a walk on the beach with a full moon in the sky. (For anyone planning on going to Florida, check ahead to see about jellyfish season. We went when hundreds of jellyfish were flocking to the shoreline.) As we walked on the beach I was shocked to see all the jellyfish glistening on the sandy shore. Well, when I was trying to avoid stepping on them Justin was reaching into his pocket for something.

He stopped me and said “This twinkles pretty nice in the moonlight” as he held a ring in the air. At that moment I was shocked, excited and about to cry. He got down on one knee and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. It was the happiest moment of my life!

I thought I would share this personal important memory in celebration of National Proposal Day.

Congratulations to all the other engaged couples out there. And for the men/women out there wondering how to pop the big question to their significant other, speak from the heart and tell them you love them.

And one last note to my fiancé… I love you with all my heart. I cannot wait to say “I do”

On the beach the following day after we got engaged!

Almost there!!!!

For anyone who knows me, they know I have almost zero patience. I called my mom and dad in the middle of the night right after he popped the question. I want to say it was around 1 am then.

Aaron and Ashley

Aaron and Ashley’s engagement had a rustic and country feel to it. It was cold and a little rainy but the two of them were great sports and you would have never known that they were freezing and wet. We started out at this great old barn and moved onto Washington Park in Springfield.
